Guest imported_MrEarl
You'd think this Georgia Junkyard Dawg wouldn't have to ask this but does anyone know of an old car junk yard in Georgia or the southeast for that matter. I need parts for my 54 Roadmasters, 76R & 72R.Thanks Lamar in Athens, Georgia1954 76R1954 72R1954
Guest
It's not Georgia, but have you tried Richard's in Asheboro, NC?
rocketraider
Richard's is not worth the effort anymore. There's another one, Bingham's, a few miles down the road that has more and better quality stuff and is easier to deal with. He has several 50s Roadmasters. We were down there yesterday and noticed Richard's gates were closed and locked at 11:30 AM. He may not be open anymore. He's threatened to sell out and close half a dozen times over the years. White's Auto Salvage in Germanton NC (near Winston-Salem) also has a bunch of older stuff but I haven't been there in a couple of years.
Bob Kinker
I have to agree on the comment on Bingham's. Much easier to deal with, and a higher quality of "junque" Phone number 336-859-5880 Address 7799 NC Highway 49 Denton, NC 27239 [color:"blue"]

Dynaflash8
Unfortunately, most of the good yards have all gone. The best ones were in PA tht I ever went to; however, there is one that is somewhat untapped (or was a couple of years ago) near Harrisonburg, VA. I don't have further information or the name, but it is heavily overgrown in the Summer, so a cold winter day is the only time to go. A yard at Solomon's Island, MD would probably have had one or more 54 Roadmasters, severally rusted, but I think he scrapped it out late last year. There is also "Old Gold" in northern Florida, up around Chiefland. Maybe this information will stir someone else's memory who can give you names and addresses. Sorry I couldn't do better. By the way, you're not the guy they wrote about in the 1956 song are you? Remember? Speedoo. "Well they often called me Speedoo, but my real name is Mr Earl". Good Luck, maybe you can find what you need on eBay also. rocketraider
Dynaflash, are you thinking about Leon's up on 29 near Culpeper? That is the only junkyard I ever went in that they gave you a map . Useful too- I believe you could get lost for several days back in the bowels of that place.White's Service Station & SalvageGermanton NC336-994-2689You have to get off the beaten path to find it, but it's really not hard to get to. Dynaflash8
Nope, I'm not thinking of Leon's. Been there and done that one. He even had a '54 Ford with a sun roof, but the glass was missing. No, this place is maybe off Rt. 11 north of Harrisonburg. Somebody on the site who lives up there would have to tell me again the name of the town. It's about one block off of the main highway, which again, I think is Rt. 11.
