Guest DeSoto Frank
Sounds like a Chrysler head, probably '41-'54 vintage.(I know that the '46-'48 Chrysler 6 (250 CID) definitely had "Spitfire" heads)How long is it from end-to-end?Cast-iron or Aluminum?Frank McMullen

Guest DeSoto Frank
John,That's definitely from a "big" Chrysler six (241, 250, 265 cid); Standard Catalog of Chrysler says that the Spitfire name appeared on Chrysler sixes & eights in 1941; it was definetly on them through '48, and probably remained there 'till '54, when the last flat-head sixes were offered on Chrysler cars.Frank
Guest imported_JPIndusi
I agree. Just saw one on a 1947 Chrysler Town and Country woody sedan with flat head six.JoeBCA 33493
