I tried searching for past postings but my computer keeps dropping off line. I would like to know if there is a source for information on how to repair the 1907 - 1908 McCord Mechanical Oilers that were used on 1907 - 1908 Model S & R Fords? Also, is there someplace that sells or makes parts? Is there someone who repairs them? Were they also used on other makes and if so which ones? Thanks.

I have had some experience with these devices in the course of maintaining several early car collections, I even sold a 4 station McCord oiler on ebay a year ago.

The type I am familiar with and have rebuilt is belt driven with a phenolic pulley, angled sight windows to indicate drip rate and an eccentric shaft with brass plungers and captive ball check valves in addition to screws that regulate the drip rate.

The whole secret consists of eliminating wear and lost motion, broken or missing parts can be easily fabricated, in the case of one oiler this called for machining new brass plungers and boring the cylinders oversize to receive them.

What type do you have?

Why not post a pic? or email me with some pics so I can better understand your dilemma.

I would be very happy to help you out.
