WCraigH
According to Packard-buddy Paul in Las Vegas, the Imperial Palace hotel has added a 1956 Exec 2dr HT to its displayed collection. It even has push-button drive. Sorry no JPG available right now.The 1962 Chaika (sp?) which was supposedly Krushchev's parade car was NOT on display as of last week. Maybe it was sold or on loan to another museum.
Steve Brown
I stopped by there last January for the first time. Very much worth a visit and a nice break from all the casino hype.
Guest
Are they still using prison labor to restore cars? I recently got to see a car that was restored by them 10 - 15 years ago and was being re-restored now. It was literaly "glued" together. The prisoners used a coffee can lid to patch a hubcap! WCraigH
The last time I visited the museum a few years ago they were still using prison labor on some of their restorations. I also know a guy in Vegas that had his 39 Ford restored at the prison and he was happy with it.BTW, today (Aug 19, 2003) at 1PM EDT on FINE channel (DirecTV #232) is another episode of "A CARography". This episode's topic is "Automobile Museums". I only caught the last 3 minutes earlier today, so I don't know if the Imperial Palace is covered. But, at about minute 28 of 30, they had a lingering shot of a 1955 Packard 400 at the Peterson Museum in LA. The Pererson is also where one of the four 1954 Panthers was exhibited. Neither car currently shows up on their "Vehicle Search" on their website, so they must have been moved or sold.
