pal1955
I have an '88 and was watching the oil pressure on the CRT. It jumps up to 71 every 5 seconds or so, staying at 50 +/- most of the time. The car make great gas mileage, but runs a little rough at idle. Other than that, no complaints. Any ideas on what then problem might be? Perhaps a bad sensor? FlyByNite
You probably hit the nail on the head with sensor.

padgett
Through '90 the silver bodied oil pressure sensor was notorious for failing - more important they often did not drop low enough to turn the light on/fuel pump off even when the engine was not running.I usually keep one around just as a spare for the next time needed.Be careful when installing the black plastic one, they snap off real easily and I had one brand new one pop the diaphram - pumped all the oil out in under ten miles. pal1955
Thanks guys. I have a wrecked '89. I'll just grab the part off of her. I assume it's the same, almost everything else is.
