PLANO RESERVATIONS

Recommended Posts

I just found out that if you want to make reservations for any of the Hotels listed in the Bugle for Plano 2004 you must use the following number - 1-800-81-PLANO . That would include the Harvey Hotel (host) , Holiday Inn,Best Western,LaQuinta Inn,The Ramada Limited and Motel 6 . The only problem is what time you call I guess. I just called and got a recording. Perhaps they work 9-5 - I will try tomorrow. The Hotels will not take the reservations. Good Luck

Have you tried bypassing them by using online reservations services (i.e. hotels.com & orbitz)? I found them to be very useful for the Flint meet.

The hotel reservations people will get back to you during office hours if you will leave your phone number. We are asking everyone to go through this 800 number for the hotel reservations because we (the North Texas Chapter) get credit towards the cost of renting the Plano Convention Center (about $2500 per day, otherwise) and towards the cost of the shuttle vans we will be running between the hotels and convention center, for every room that is booked through that 800 number. So, please be patient and use the 800 number, or we will all take a real financial bath. We promise you a great national meet in 2004!

If anyone is calling from Canada, I understand that the 800 number does not work from there, so email me, and I will have them phone you.

Thanks.

Pete & All,

I called Plano CVB Housing @ 800-81-PLANO (as listed near the bottom of the 2004 BCA NATIONAL MEET registration form on the back wrapper of the July 2003 BUGLE). When I called on Monday, July 28th, I got a recording that stated the person handling the reservations would be out of the office until Wednesday, July 31st! BUMMER! What lousy timing to take a few days off, thought I.

I left a message, and EARLY Wednesday morning, 7/31, I received a return call at my home from "Shawn", who promptly and courteously took my reservation information. About two hours later he called me back with firm confirmation numbers to the Harvey Hotel Plano, which is the host hotel. Two days later, Friday, 8/1, I received written confirmation forms via snail mail!

Frankly, I think this is pretty danged good service. By following the simple directions, everything went real smooth, so why try to get "tricky" by bypassing the system??

Hope this helps anyone out there who is perceiving problems in making registrations for next year in Plano, TX.

Now, Pete, if you'll just keep the temperatures as comfortable as Flint we'll all be a bunch of happy Buick campers!

I talked to Shawn and had no problems.

Got the room I wanted with no problem.

Also, remember that this is a Spring meet.

Texas in the spring is very comfortable.

See you in Plano.

I just called - got the recording ( 10 AM Texas Time)- they will call me back. That is fine when you are home all day and have nothing better to do then to wait for a phone call. I could leave the cell number but dont really want to get involved with dates and Credit Card Numbers while on the freeway. Perhaps there is a time when there is someone live to answer the phone.

We have contacted the Plano Centre and voiced our concerns about the phone situation. They now have three people answering the phones and they have promised to cover each other during normal working hours (8:00am - 5:00pm Central). Hopefully this will help solve the problem of not talking to anyone when you call. I appreciate the feedback.

Just a word of caution reserving a room listed in the Bugle. I booked a room in Flint using the Bugle and was very dissatisfied when I arrived. The room was so bad the wife wanted to sleep in the car. I was fortunate to find one room left at the Holiday Inn Express, right near the show. That was the finishing touch to one perfect event! Just make sure you do some homework!
