AACA Museum Extended Hours During Hershey

Recommended Posts

Someone asked if the AACA Museum would offer extended hours during Hershey week. The Museum will be open on Sunday after Carlisle, and again on Monday through the following Sunday. After Hershey week is over, the Museum will resume regular hours, Wednesday through Sunday.

During Hershy week, the AACA Museum will also be open late, probably until 9:00 PM so that persons who do not want to leave the flea market during daylight hours, can visit the Museum in the evenings.

Announcement of the Museum hours are planned to be made periodically during the day at Hershey over the loudspeaker. Attempts will be made to make similar announcements at the Carlisle event.

We hope that many collectors will take time to visit this new facility.

Benefits of AACA Membership.

John...thank you for the details.

As for the folks that have not experienced the museum visit, guaranteed, it is a must.

Peter.

How far is the museum from the fields??? We are usully stuck without transportation other than walking during the show. Would love to see it while out there - maybe on a rainy day - not that one would ever happen!!!!

We stay in the motel beside the museum. I walk it a couple of time a day, the guys I stay with say it is too far. It is I would guess a little over a mile,

(to me that is nothing at Hershey)(last year my GPS showed I walked 49.3 miles in the 4 days I was there.)

When you walk it it is all up hill and you keep thinking it is just over the next hill but it isn?t, but you?ll get there. Maybe they could run the shuttle bus up there if they move the Car Corral somewhere walkable.

As Jay said, it is about a mile to a mile and a half from the Rt. 39/Hershey Park Drive intersection (at the Giant Arena) to the museum.

However, the road is a windy, two lane road with hills and no shoulders for most of the length. With the fast moving traffic on the road, walking to the museum could become quite an adventure.

I'm sure there will be some type of shuttle bus to the museum... at least during the day.

If you're normally paying someone to work 8 hours on Saturday, maybe you might want to think about having them work two nights for four hours extra and give the museum staff Saturday off. This way you can promote the show on Saturday and not the museum, as well as give the staff an additional day off.

It is 1.3 miles from the redlight on Hersheypark Dr. to Museum Dr. all uphill going, downhill going back. The shoulders of the road are plenty wide enough to walk.

ex98, the staff is volunteer with the exception of 2 or 3 people in the office. I am sure most of them would like to have the Saturday off but with that many people in town for the week it doesn't make ecomomical sense to close up on what should be your biggest weekend of the year.

They talked about running a shuttle bus up to the museum however the Hershey paper work makes no mention of one? It would not take much to overfill the parking lot if everyone drove up the same day let alone blocking up route 39 with all the museum and swap meet people.

FYI spoke to the car corral man in charge the other week and he said the corral will be directly in front of the new Giant Stadium on the main paved lot.

Call me frugal, or cheap if you wish, but it seems that being an old phart is better than being an AACA member. And since so many of us AACA members ARE old pharts many of us would be better off entering the Museum as seniors and forgetting our club affiliation. Somehow this doesn't seem right. The Senior rate should be the same as the member rate. Raise one or lower the other.

Mr. Scotland,

I'm confused by your comment.

When we attended the Open House in June, the admission prices were Adult $7...... Senior (over 60) $6. and AACA members $6.

Remembering this, I just looked and the admission prices quoted on the AACA Museum page and they are the same as the Open House with Senior and AACA Member being both $6.

Guess Im confused on why attending the museum as an old phart is better pricewise than an AACA member.

Am I missing something obvious?

(I hate when that happens ).

Oops... now I see the post from near chocolatetown....

Maybe he knows something I don't then......

Sorry.......

-------------------

Ah I see my confusion...

The prices on the Museum page are for the Grand Opening.........I guess.. since the page talks about the grand opening...

however the hours are listed Wed thru Sun... and since the Grand Opening was Sat and Sun.. it would seem the admission info is any time.

Gee.. guess I'll just go over here and sit in the corner and shut up before I confuse someone else......

Sorry
