Guest
I am in the planning stages of putting a 455/TH400 from a 1972 Olds 98 into a 1981 Olds Cutlass Supreme Brougham. Will the driveline from the 98 connect the TH400 to the Cutlass rearend or will I need to use the Cutlass driveline? I can have either modified if I need to. Thanks for your wisdom. 66400
You will have to build a driveshaft for that combo. The '72 98 has a long tail turbo 400 with a round flange on the driveshaft to connect to the rearend. Henry
Sgt Art
I'm guessing you have a 307 Olds in the car now. If that's correct than the 455 is a drop in replacement, but will sit up a bit higher. I did this swap with an 85 LeSabre with no problems. I think the only other mod I had to make was to move the exhaust pipes a little to accomodate the wider block. I used a TH350 trans to replace the 200 Metric that was OEM. It fit with only the crossmember having to be moved a little to match up to the rear mount. The driveshaft was a drop in.
