I'm missing something. When the engine is warm the car is at idle speed it acts as if running on 3 cyl. It also sometimes turns on the check engine light. Engine usually smooths out after revving up or re-starting. I've replaced wires, hall effect, main computer, points, (full tune-up) and taken apart and replaced the electronic fuel caps which were corroded. I still have same problem. Am I missing a sensor? PLEASE HELP. This is an intermittant problem.

If I were to guess it sounds like a small but significant vacuum leak (Broken Delrin tubes or bad diaphragm in control module). A second strong candidate is the throttle position switch. If it is the switch there ought to be an error code registered. See www.allpar.com tech site and enter your year and model numbers to get user experience reports from other guys with similar faults.

Just reading the error codes should give a better clue than guess work. Stude8

Kirk,

I had a simular problem. The code pointed to the temp sensor switch and a problem with the fuel injectors. I replaced the two wire temp sensor switch located on the right side of the water box, not to be confused with the temp gage sender unit. The part was $20 from Chrysler, # 1-05226374.

I also replaced the distributer pickup assembley. And then I removed the fuel injector wiring connectors, they were all corroced green. I cleaned the connections on the injectors and on the wire plugs, used new dielectric grease on them.

I started the car and it purrs. The engine light, which had come on permanent, went out.

Hope this helps,

Stephen
