C-Lamb Posted November 30 Posted November 30 (edited) Good evening all. Looking for a rear brake backer plate, there's a bit of damage due to a recent careless incident. I haven't found any sources. Any good interchange options? Thanks! Chris Edited November 30 by C-Lamb typo (see edit history)
MCHinson Posted November 30 Posted November 30 I would suggest you give Dave Tacheny a call. He sells 1936-1941 Buick parts from parts cars. You can best reach him by calling 763-427-3460 between 4 and 7 pm Central. He probably has one available. 1

I'll give him a call.

The bottom edge is ground away where it slid along the road. I think it's still useful, but thought I would assess the situation for replacements. Seems like they're hard to find.

One of the backing plates on my '38 shows similar wear. Yours is probably still usable if you're unable to find a replacement. Unlike studs with lug nuts, when the wheel bolt falls out there's nothing left to support the wheel. I re-check the torque on mine repeatedly after removing a wheel until the torque stabilizes. While you're in there, good time to replace axle seals and repack the bearings...

Yeah, not a great feeling but I probably put that wheel on 2 years ago when I started working on the front end and didn't check them, focuex on the 30 bolts in the front. Probably a good idea to chang those. I'll look for some instructions tonight and see if I can find some good instructions, and check the manuals. Thinking of addressing the rear shocks while I have it up on stands... Edited Saturday at 05:39 PM by C-Lamb (see edit history) 1
