I'm just weeks away from publishing a biography of Harriet White Fisher of Trenton NJ who was the leading woman industrialist of the early 20th century and the first woman to organize, finance, and lead a trip around the world.  Harriet and her fellow travelers drove around the world in a 1908 Model 40 Locomobile from July 1909 to August 1910.  I have all the diaries, letters, and photographs to prove this and the better part of a thousand pages of research from newspapers, magazines, etc.  There are scattered references on the Internet to this trip with many inaccuracies.

I know Harriet gave her car back to Locomobile at the end of the trip in exchange for a new car because the company wanted to use the well-worn car in auto shows.  I have proof that it was shown in at least two east coast auto shows in 1911, but the car's history stops at that point.  I have not found any advertising from Locomobile that highlights the car's trip around the globe.  A rumor has surfaced in 2024 that the car may be in a barn in New England.

With the Locomobile Society out of business, I do not know where to turn for information about how Locomobile used the car after 1910 (other than the two 1911 auto shows I know about).  Is there anyone who can help with that?  Maybe someone has a file of Locomobile advertising from the 1911 era that shows the car and relates the story?

Ideas, anyone?

Thanks, Frank Comstock

Yes, I did see your reply.  Thank you for responding.  I take care of my grandchildren during your afternoon and into your evening.  I work on writing projects and respond to posts or emails as I have time.  Because I do not know at any time what I am doing for the grandchildren, I cannot say that I am available to talk at any particular time.  Are you comfortable posting the questions or concerns you have for me here?  If you prefer email, I could do that.

I'll wait to here from you.

Frank
