3macboys Posted November 11 Posted November 11 You have to wonder were Nascar would be today without Bobby and the 1979 Daytona 500. Saw him in person in 1983 as he rolled out from under his race car in the pits at Cayuga Speedway at Nelles Corners, Ontario at the Nascar North Series race there. Back in those days they would bring in hot shoes and supply cars for them- he was the only one that I saw actually working on the car. Side note, the race was won by Dale Earnhardt. Definitely one of the greats that made the sport. 2
NailheadBob Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Great loss to Racing Fans RIP Bobby, Now he is with his 2 boys and wife Bob 1
NailheadBob Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Chicagoland's Dr. Jerry Bertollini decided to drive late model stock car in the mid 1980's, he went out and purchased a "Retired Stock Car" from Bobby Allison, white car with red lettering "Miller High Life" Buick, that was located behind Bobby's shop in Hueytown, Alabama, Dr.Jerry raced Bobby's old race car at Illiana Motor Speedway in Indiana 1/2 mile paved track and Grundy County Speedway Illinois 1/3 mile paved track on a weekly basis, WOW what a great looking and sounding car, Dr. Jerry raced that car for the first year just as it looked when Bobby drove it, even still had Bobby's name above the door. Lot of big time racers raced at Illiana Motor Speedway: Bobby, Neil Bonnet, Troy and Joe Rutman, Rusty Wallace, Dick Triclke, just to name a few. GREAT memories of Bobby for me, Bob
