tinsled Posted November 7 Posted November 7 I am a new guy at Hudson forums, based in Finland. I recently acquired a 1954 Hornet Club Coupe, body nr. 7317532. Actually the car is only currently being shipped to Finland, thus at this moment I only have photos and some info by the seller. Is there a source or database to find out the factory information of this very car? - original engine information - interior/upholstery spec. - trim level, possible factory accessories etc. Thanks, Pekka aka tinsled
54Coupe Posted November 7 Posted November 7 Model D indicates that it is a 1954. Trim level is Hornet, indicated by the 7 at the beginning of the serial number. The rest of that number only indicates where it fell in line during production. Exterior color combination, and upholstery color were indicated on the serial plate in your photo. The codes were stamped with an ink or a paint that did not hold up well over time. The stamps only printed on the surface of the plate, and did not make an impression into the plate. I would try real hard to read what is there using as many different light sources as possible, (and maybe photograph it with your cell phone from various angles, and examine the photos on a screen that you can mage the images larger), before I would even try to clean it off. In my experience, any rubbing on the ID plate just takes off more ink. 2
tinsled Posted November 7 Author Posted November 7 (edited) Thank you for the information - I will try to read the plate as soon as the car will be delivered here in Finland. Meanwhile the photo I posted is the only photo I got showing the body tag. I also found a serial number table on the hetclub web page, looks like my car has rolled out in October of 1954. What does the letters "MO" after the serial nr. stand for in the table? Edited November 7 by tinsled (see edit history)
Xander Wildeisen Posted November 16 Posted November 16 MO stands for the State, that your car was in, when someone registered it with the Hudson club. MO= Missouri 1

MO= Missouri Thanks, I thought it could be for a state, but wondered why Missouri. I bought the car from an owner in Florida. I understood also the previous owner was from Florida or North Carolina. The Hudson has been in the south states ca. 20 past years, as far as I know now. Obviously it has travelled across the USA in it's existence.
Xander Wildeisen Posted November 21 Posted November 21 At some point the Vin was registered with the club, and the owner lived in or submitted information stating MO as the location. Car could have been in Florida the whole time, who knows? Fun cars, I had a 54 Hornet club coupe.
