Question about posts in this (Automobiles For Sale) forum.

What is Xander doing with his posts as compared to others? His photos look like cell phone photos and other posts have “regular” larger ones. There is a difference in the text also. Is it a screen shot or what?

He is definitely taking screenshots of the original ad including the text and pictures. Facebook isn’t as sharing friendly and it’s the best way to keep the information in the ad for future reference once the ad is taken down. As he added a link it’s easy to go look if you are interested and have an account.

Oh, and buyer beware, if you think this forum has too many scammers you’ll find it doesn’t come close to the number of fake ads on Facebook… difference is like that between a candle and the sun.

I moved your topic here because it has nothing to do with Automobiles For Sale and shouldn't have been posted in that forum. It appears to be an argument starter and will probably get deleted.

I don’t necessarily think that the OP’s post is an argument starter.  My elderly relatives are always intrigued when they find out what a screenshot is.  Xander uses screenshots of the Facebook ads along with the separately listed link.  Others and myself often download the photos from the link and post them separately.  I sincerely appreciate the “not mine for sale” posts that Xander makes.  He is probably the most prolific “not mine” poster here and is entitled to speed up his process due to the large number of posts.

I’m going to think Kent is right about the purpose of the OP’s question. I didn’t feel it was an argument waiting to happen so much as curiosity about the origin of the odd photographs shown. It might not have been obvious to someone who doesn’t search FB using their phone.

I apologize if anyone thinks my comment regarding scamming is offensive, sadly it is so true that every other day there’s the need for a flashing banner on the top of this forum and it’s getting worse across the entire internet IMO. That said, should anyone be offended by my comments I would ask them to be removed, it wasn’t my intention.

You guys may be right but many times when one member questions why another member does something it's not unusual for it to get argumentative. That was my point.

You sound like you're trying to start an argument, Ronnie! 😜 (I hope you realize I'm just kidding.)  I don't think Snarfy was being provocative, just curious.  I also think this site has about the most congenial and non-argumentative group of posters of any internet forum that I've ever participated in.

 Most of the time, neil.

yes. screen shot. others goto the actual listing and grab the text and full size photos.
