Jredgar
I have a 1933 Nash big six there is a slight knock coming from the engine I thought about replacing the engine and putting maybe a small block but I’m also on a budget . Is there any engines available for an easy swap that would fit the drivetrain Transmission so all I have to do is replace an engine or would it be just better for me to rebuild this one? kar3516
On this forum dedicated to preservation and restoration of antique cars there will be agreement that you should overhaul and repair what you have. If you hope to drive it 60 to 70 mph then you likely won’t be happy with the original drivetrain. The problem with swapping in a bigger engine not originally installed in the car is that you will need chassis mods including stiffer springs, better brakes, larger transmission, different rear end etc etc etc just to be safe. If you can’t connect the dots with this car your best alternative is to sell it to someone who wants it like it is and then buy what you really want. I recommend that you find someone having expertise with this specific engine and have them listen to it and make a recommendation regarding repair or overhaul. 31nash880
This is what you get when it gives up. An oil pan of bearing pieces.
