1938 Cadillac Style 38-9067 V-16

I was talking with a gentleman today who had his 1938 Cadillac V-16 Series 90 car at a local car show. The style number is 38-9067. Body number is 7. Trim is 4935. The car is painted a light yellow color with black convertible top and tan leather interior. He asked me if the light yellow was an original color in 1938 for that car. I looked at several sites on the web but can't seem to find much on colors. Does anyone know what shades of yellow were available from Cadillac in 1938?

Thanks.

While I am not certain of any particular shades of Yellow for that year. I was always taught that the V-16 series could be purchased new in any color the owner wished. As I understand it this is the case for many Classic Cars. I do recall a particular piece of sales literature that simply read under the color section: "To the good taste of the owner" Though I do not recall exactly which model this was for. Perhaps others will have a more definitive answer.

I believe I know the car to which you refer. It is not painted an authentic 1938 Cadillac color.

Here are the official Cadillac-LaSalle colors for 1938: 1 - Black, 2 - Antoinette Blue, 3 - Patillo Maroon, 4 - St. Regis Green, 5 - Moleskin Gray, 6 - Pelham Gray, 7 - Manchu Beige Metallic, 8 - Chantel Blue, 9 - Deauville Beige Metallic, 11 - Fairhaven Blue Metallic, 12 - Cruiser Gray Metallic, 13 - Edgewood Green Metallic, 14 - Italian Cream, 15 - Carolina Green, 16 - Seagull Gray, 17 - Oxblood Maroon Metallic and 18 - Barcelona Blue.

No yellows or golds were offered. But as another member said, the client could have ANY color he desired, although Cadillac dealers would politely discourage the use of any "unbecoming" hues, especially on a V16 model.

What is the paint code on the actual car? You should find it listed here.
