1974 Dodge Colt Coupe 4-Speed

Base models and cars designed to be "cheap" have low survival rates, and the only one I can think of that became a "collector icon" would be the Porsche Speedster. I thought this was an interesting example of a very well cared for car.

Dad had a good friend that bought one of these new as his daily commuter. I think his was an orange/red colour.

Reminds me somewhat of an Opel Kadette.  Nice color and shape for the year.

One of my buddies had a yellow one. It was borderline indestructible. He put well over 100 miles a day on it and it never required much in way of unscheduled repairs.

 

Well, there was that time he got drunk and threw up all over the interior... I went to see him and the seats and carpet were in the yard where he was washing them with the garden hose. To his credit his then-girlfriend was driving when it happened, and he puked all over her too.

My mother bought exactly the same car brand new in 74.  It was a fun car to drive.  

 

Slid it into a ditch during a snow storm one night.  Mom was not amused.  It eventually rusted out the point it was not safe to drive.  Still ran great though.
