jord Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Do we have a replacement lubricant for our earlier springs? Ford M-4628-B . I searched all over and there seems to be no consensus on any product. Grease will harden and block all the channels on the springs. Thanks
abelincoln Posted October 18 Posted October 18 Been a while, but seems like we used some sort of graphite lubricant. Perhaps you have auto parts stores there?
cudaman Posted October 19 Posted October 19 Many in the Model T Ford crowd use slip paint, available from the vendors. https://www.modeltford.com/item/3800P-AER.aspx
Ray500 Posted October 20 Posted October 20 It's a dry graphite lube that even WD40 has a version if you search for it. Ford barn might have some too. Remember they use dry graphite on locks to lube them. The wet stuff can get messy!
jord Posted October 20 Author Posted October 20 Thanks everyone for the info, knew about slip paint but was looking for a product that used a grease gun that would fit the fitting. Not a terribly big thing for now just looking down the road.
Lee H Posted October 20 Posted October 20 Just thinking out loud, I’d want a molybdenum grease (best for low speed and sliding actions), and I’d want it to be waterproof (for obvious reasons). Voila!: https://www.schaefferoil.com/221-moly-ultra.html
