suicide knobs

Hi everybody,

I don't know if anyone knows about suicide knobs, but I found this one at an estate sale there are no numbers or markings on it of any kind, at first I thought it was covered in a porcelain, but I think it is some kind of vinyl or rubber. Looks like it was made for the older style steering wheels. I know it's not new there is wear on it. It is also very heavy like it's made of iron or something. On Ebay I have seen repops of these they call them tractor knobs . My question is how to tell how old it is? Is there any manufacturing differences in the repops? Thanks for your help if anyone knows anything

Looks more industrial than automotive.  The automotive ones I’ve seen are more decorative than this one.

Come to think of it the original corvette only came in these colors
