Stefano 1963
Hi everibody, i have in my workshop a beautyfull 1927 sedan 8 seats. Is very original, the engine start but run very bad. The compression is very low. is 2.5 for all 8 cylinders. But i like to check the timing and valve play. The plate rivetted on the valve cover is not so clear. The valve play is 0.032" for all 16 valves tappets? The correct marks are on the flyweel. but is necessary look from under or under the floor in the center hole in the bell housing?? I am great full if you can send me some notices or if you can advise me if exist a workshop manual or a owner manual. edinmass
2.5? I that atmospheres? It should have 80 pounds per square inch. Sounds like a valve timing issue if they are even across all cylinders.
kbeach
@Stefano 1963 Like Ed, I am puzzled with your 2.5 per cylinder reading. Not sure which engine your car has but use what is stamped on the cam cover plate for proper valve clearance. Clearnce is the same for both intake and exhaust. Yes you will need to pull the floor boards to find timing marks on the flywheel. This is a copy from a 1927 owners manual. Please let us know if this helps.
