denboy
1937 Dodge truck 1/2 ton. I had my handles chromed and the chrome shop took the handles apart. Does anyone know how and what order they go back together?

jpage
The escutcheon goes on first with the chrome side facing outward toward the handle. The spring is next, then the sleeve , with the wide end facing the handle, slides over the shaft to hold the spring in place. Now, the sleeves may have been originally crimped onto the shaft where those little grooves are on the stem. I'm not sure what that ring is unless the plater cut the crimped end off of the sleeve. What I did with mine was to mark the shaft at the end of the retainer and drilled a small hole through the shaft for a small spring pin or small nail. to hold it in place.

denboy
Thankyou for all your help . What I did was I first put on the escutcheon then I put that extra little ring with the cup side toward the spring then the spring and the sleeve and I used a socket to press it all together. It is holding and no extra parts . thanks again
jpage
I'm not sure I would trust a press fit on that sleeve, but it might work.
