I am the new owner of a 89 TC and I am requesting recommendations for service dealers or mechanics in the East Bay of California. What I am looking for is a place to take my car for a full service. I am in the process of becomig a member of the Chrysler's TC by Maserati Club, but in the interim would love feedback from previous and current owners of TCs how live in the Bay Area.

The level of ignorance displayed at many dealers' service departments regarding the TC is often appalling. This year's national meet was in the East Bay area, & I had to have a quickie repair done at Michael Stead's Chrysler in Walnut Creek, & I wasn't too impressed, frankly. Especially since the part I needed(a camshaft seal) they didn't stock but the NAPA outlet right up the street had two of them on hand.

My recommendation - call the head service writer at a number of local dealers and casually inquire of them them what they know about the TC. Ask them if they are harder to fix than the average Chrysler (from a drivetrain standpoint, with the exception of the 16 valved, 5 speed version, the answer to this should be basically "no"). This conversation may give you a clue of what kind of service & the price thereof you may expect from that particular dealer.
