1954 Mercury Monterey 2 Door Hard Top for $40,300.00, will considered offers.
Vehicle has been restored to original paint colors, upholstery and wheels. Engine is a 312 V-8 with 3-2 barrel 98 Stomberg Carburetors and Edelbrock Intake Manifold. Has a 3 Speed manual transmission with over-drive, power steering, manual brakes, finder skirts, spinner hubcaps, Year of Manufacture (YOM) CA license plates and new wide white wall radial tires. This is more of a resto-mod car since the car came originally with a 256 cid engine and Mercury didn’t have the 312 cid until 1956, and definitely didn’t have 3 deuces on it. Still, it looks like a nice car for what it as, at a premium price.

Very nice-looking car, but I agree with Lew in that this car is no where near original. Now does that effect the value of the car? I suppose that would be up to the buyer. I have seen several of these Mercury's pass through the forum, but I cannot recall one at this price point. Just Sayin'

I do like these Mercury's the 53's with the iconic flat head V8's are my favorites.  But this one does looks nice.  The engine swap is one thing, but the 3 deuces is another thing. They don't work with the rest of the car which is pretty much in stock condition.  I do agree is price is quit optimistic!

If it had a stock carb and air cleaner, the engine swap would be much less of an issue.

Bringing this car back to stock under the hood would be expensive and would require swapping out the 312 for the correct 256 (with the exhaust cross over pipe) and changing back to the single exhaust system the car had when it left the dealership. I would just leave it as it is and enjoy it, if I bought it for a more reasonable price than what is currently being asked.

I wouldn't change the engine either! I would drive it and see how reliable those triple deuces are and either find a more tasteful air cleaner assembly or swap the 3 deuces for a stock 312 setup with the appropriate air cleaner.
