Great engine for the era, plastic timing chain guides are the achilles heal - if they are discolored like his radiator overflow or if you don't know the history replacement and chain tensioner replacement should be priority #1.

Overflow tanks can warp at neck with age.  Looks like the same tank as the 560 SL which is available and looks a lot better as well.

90% of these including our 560 develop a leak on rear pass side engine bank.  Generally won't impact things - but something to look at.

Buy enough 15w40 at oil change time as it takes 9 quarts and uses the old school cartridge filter...

Didnt I read on here at one time they called these the 'bankers hot rod'. Very attractive car. I have always been a sucker for MB (BMW eat your heart out) and have thought these were one of the better looking cars. I could easily daily drive something like this.

Kerry just don't take it to customers when quoting a job.  Old timets may have a clue what these things stickered for back in the day... 😉

Dad drove an old ford work van and mom always had a new car. I remember when she had her Olds 98, which I imagine was an expensive car when new. When dad would go to look at a job he would always take my sisters pinto, not the Olds!

I have always liked the 1970 MBZ line up.  The 6.3 is my favorite.  But the 280SE with the 4.5L V8 sedan are a much more affordable.  Of course there's the 280SL and the 3.5 convertible both models are expensive and sought after.  I guess I'll quit dreaming and stick to my Buicks!
