1958 Ford engine paint colors

Recommended Posts

I have a 1958 Sunliner with the 352 engine. Id like the engine painted per original. Asking around I've gotten numerous answers. Can anyone point me to a judges guide or something definitive so I can see for a fact how this motor should be painted? Thank you

My 61 Mercury with a 352 came with a black block and turquoise air cleaner and valve covers. The 390 has black block and gold valve covers and air cleaner. The 332 should have a red color on the valve covers and air cleaner. This was so when a mechanic opened the hood of the car he knew what engine he was dealing with by the color combos. The Ford engines didn't change color until the mid 60's when they all went to Ford blue on everything.
