GreatLakesGal
Hi all. I just got this beauty, and I know it's been altered to make it a hot rod with air conditioning and a sound system. I'm just really confused about what I need to do for the dashboard holes in the middle. What say you?
keiser31
The car is a 1938. That is where the radio was. Edited October 2, 2023 by keiser31 (see edit history) 1

30DodgePanel
Keiser may correct me, but I believe this is why he's suggesting yours is a 1938. Different hood vent styling, more of a bullnose grill, different dash and the headlights are set on the fender in 38 models. You may have a vehicle that was built, registered and titled between July to December of 1937, but it would still be considered a 1938 model. 1937 1938 1937 Dash Edited October 2, 2023 by 30DodgePanel (see edit history)
GreatLakesGal
It is a '38!!! Man, you guys know your stuff! I appreciate knowing it's a '38. Next question...where would be a good start for those bits and pieces I need. Thanks Keiser for the one piece you led me to.

Some things get posted on this site that you might be able to use and of course eBay. The trick is having a reference photo for what you are looking for so that you don’t buy the wrong thing.

Next question...where would be a good start for those bits and pieces I need. Thanks Keiser for the one piece you led me to. There are three pieces. In the picture Keiser posted of an original dash, the center section with three knobs is the radio head. The eBay picture he posted is a radio delete which covers the hole if the car doesn't have a radio. Above the radio is a trim piece with the Dodge badge. The piece with two indentations below the radio is the ashtray. It pulls out like a drawer for use and fits into a metal bracket behind the dash. This is 38 Plymouth and not the best picture but it shows the ashtray and its bracket - similar to Dodge. GreatLakesGal
Thanks. At least I know which is which now. Thanks for taking the time to fill me in...and the dashboard.
Douglas Gilmore Brown
I parted out a 1938 Dodge sedan 12 years ago. i kept everything that would fit my 1937 Dodge convertible sedan, and sold the other 1938 small parts on eBay. Search there and you can probably find all these dash trim pieces.
