Fordy
Hi, I am wondering if anyone does a completely new brush plate and holder assembly. I can find the usual sources offering rebuilt ones with a core, but my problem is I have no core to rebuild. I have several starters that are good but missing the brush plate assembly that the local T club has asked me to sort out for them. No brush assembly means they stay parts only. If they are not available new does anyone have a few they can ship to me in Australia? Thanks Steve
Fordy
I have had a search of the offerings from Langs and the other suppliers. Everything is available to rebuild an original and all that seems to be missing is the steel plate that ties it all together. I figure it can't be too hard to make so I am going to give it a go - all required parts have been ordered. If I fail at least I can do an original if I find one. I have it all draw up in Autocad and printed to scale- I will attempt to drill it all out manually and if that fails then I will get it laser cut. I need to turn up dies to stamp the recess. Fordy
Thanks Dan. I have started down the path of making some and have a greater part of the tooling done over the weekend. If the exercise fails, I will get in touch. Steve
Fordy
Popped out one of the base plates from the die today and fitted the grounded brush holders. Waiting on new insulators to come from Langs to do the other 2 but everything looks like it is going to work. Steve
Fordy
Had the brush insulators arrive from Langs today and completed the plate (3 more to do). The insulator sets supplied have one of the holes for the rivets slightly misaligned on the top insulator that required filing. Looks like the box of starters missing these is going to have a new life. Steve
