I am probably in the minority but I really like the 46 - 47 Chevy coupe better.  These are not ugly and I get the attraction, but the coupe has great lines as well. We have seen a couple in the last year or so that were very nice cars at around 20k, much more in line for a nice postwar Chevy coupe or Aerosedan.  High 30s should get a convertible, but you see a lot less Chevy than Ford drop tops of that era.

maybe I am off with valuing Chevy's.  I compare what the seller is asking for the car and think to myself what could I buy in say the Buick line, the Pontiac line or the Caddy line in the era of this Chevy?  I know from what the seller is asking I could get a 8 cylinder and a better riding car from any other division of GM!! I could get a Buick sedanet in pretty good shape instead of the Chevy. I could get an 8 cylinder nicely maintained Pontiac Streamliner too.  Maybe comparing one model of a brand to another brand is not fair as this is usually emotional buy that brings back memories of yesterday. So who knows!!

I certainly think this is a beautiful car however I wouldn't venture over the low to mid twenties for it.

I offer no opinion on the seller's asking price.

Fords and Chevy pricing is semi-independent of what were competing cars, though.  I agree with deac that you can buy a lot more car with other makes.

I think you could get a nice Packard.  Consider the price of a same year Plymouth also.
