Guest imported_Rich N
Does anyone know the correct specifications for the shunt field fuse used on the starter/generator? Amps/volt? slo-blow etc.
Guest leadfoot
Rich -I've used a regular Buss 10 amp fuse on my 12 volt. This is correct according to the specs. Mine is a late 22 production, so we probably have the same starter/generator model with the rear fuse mount. The 6 volt systems used a 6 amp fuse. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
Guest imported_RAH
Rich, Ledfoot is correct. The N/E spec lists the field fuse as a 'Standard'10Amp. I have seen fuses up to and including a piece of 1/4" copper tubing. I would NOT recommend 'overfusing'greater than 15A. as this is the rated maximum output of the device under normal operating conditions. I do believe, however, one other observation should be noted. That is the fuse used in these early starter/ generators is a type 4AG which is slightly larger in diameter than the 'common' AGC or 3AG fuses of today. I hope this helps. Guest imported_Rich N
Thank you gentlemen. I replaced the bad fuse with an AGC-10 and it appears that my generator is now working properly.
