I have no personal interest or stake in the eventual sale of this 1969 Mercury Marauder X-100.

But, other than a 429, what is “sporty” or different?  I see a bench seat (yawn) and magnums.

They compare with the Buick Wildcat or Chrysler 300.  Trim more sporty than full lux, the family sedan level body (LeSabre, Newport) with a big block.  Buckets typically extra.

Too big to have agile handling, but more a big GT road car.

I think they're cool, but did they make them without the black hood? I don't care for that feature.

JamesR:

The black hood and front panel are an aftermarket modification.  Here is the Marauder X-100 page from the 1969 Mercury brochure.

…and they advertise it with buckets and console.  I would go $14,000 or so. It’s still a nice neat car that takes you back, but the insanity needs to stop somewhere.

That was an early iteration of Ford's "Flight-Bench" 50/50 divided front seat.

Those are actually Kelsey-Hayes MagStars, same as used on Shelby Mustangs. They had their own Mercury head center cap for Marauders.

One of the best wheel designs ever IMO.

There are pre-production pictures of 1967 Oldsmobile Delta Customs wearing MagStars and those wheels really wake up the late 60s big Olds styling, as they do for the X100.

I stupidly passed on a set of 14x6 5X5 MS at a fall Carlisle about ten years ago. Complete with nice KH centers. They'd have been gorgeous on my Starfires but I figured big 14" tires might be hard to find so I walked away. Stupid rocketraider.

We've determined the black hood paint is incorrect, but a person would not be able to tell this seller.  The seller would need a Marti Report to prove an SO on the hood, and I doubt Mercury would do that.

I like my comment earlier about the X-100.  I have learned quite a bit.

Not Magnums, they are referred to as "Magstar".  I believe Ashton and I's have 15 x 6.  The Classic Industries catalog for Mustang has 15 x 7 but not sure about hole spacing, if it's the same for full size Mercury and XL Fords.
