Chrysler 72 gearbox oil

I am wanting to change the oil in my 72s gearbox

what grade of oil do I us

I've used EP90/140 for many years on my Chryslers.

I run 140 in my 75 as well.

Does your trans have seals? My 29 dodge doesn’t and I use 600wt oil. Light weight oil will seep thru bearings.

Based on sidestake's comment, I looked and there are no seals in my 72 gearbox. I am going with 600W.

600W is used on Model A Fords. I read an article in their magazine's somewhere that 600W is the measurement to do with its steam rating, but in the same article they said EP140 is much the same oil. I stand to be corrected

600, 600,600,600,600.wt oil in trans and rear. And don't tell me, "well the book says to thin it in the winter". Yea, are you doing winter driving? Let it warm up, your sig. other will thank you.

If it doesn't kool like and pour like honey, it AIN'T 600.

I am using Penrite transoil 250 in my 75 mixed with a small amount of STP oil treatment.

600w oil and ep140 are not even close to being the same thing.

600w oil has the consistency very similar to honey. It's thickness allows it to adhere to surfaces.

ep140 is only slightly thicker than engine oil.

In Australia, 600w oil is very hard to purchase and ep140 works perfectly in my 75.
