Fossil
A fresh 312 and C6 would have been a better combination. Beautiful outfit.
JamesR
Yes, I remember when that was for sale before. I agree with Jack and Fossil on the engine. While the original 130 hp Y block engine would be struggling at times to pull that trailer around, less powerful engines pulled rigs like that back in the day. A 312 or 292 would've worked great. Even a 272 upgrade could've been made to work well. For me, upgrading to disc brakes would be a bigger consideration for pulling a trailer. I'm not complaining, though...I obviously love '54 Ranch Wagons. I really like the colors on this car. If they aren't original, they could've/should've been. Still, it's interesting that one pic of the car looks like a Mainline, and the others look like a Customline. Also, those chrome headlight bezels look a little out of place.

I do like the side with the extra trim. Edited February 24, 2023 by Fossil (see edit history)
Crusty Trucker
Looking back at the CL ad, only the photos with the wagon and trailer together lack the side trim on the wagon. All the other pictures of the wagon alone show side trim (on both sides). Must have been added later.
