Guest DaveKop
Where to I get the parts necessary to rebuilt the driveshaft parking brake on my 1960 Chrysler? It is functional (barely) it can be set and released but it will not hold even after adjustment. kope49@hotmail.com
Guest imported_phil-from-france
Hi,Does your parking brake assy. (at pedal) is working well ? Does the notches engage and hold ?I don't know where you could find parts for the drum assy, except shoes (rarely seen on ebay but they could be relined). If the parking brake assy works well you'll have to remove the drum and "see" the mechanism: they are 2 springs (anti rattle and return). The strongest must be well engaged in shoes holes. The anti rattle spring goes over the return spring and must be "clipsed" in the round support grease shield (i hope that you've the FSM to see the exploded view).Look also at upper shoe guide, perhaps the shoes are out of the guide. Guest DaveKop
The mechanism works fine. I think the lings must be shot since I had someone adjust it and it still will not hold except on level ground. I was hoping someone sold a rebuild kit.
