Bills Auto Works
Hello Everyone, This one should make the "Patina Guys" drool! As a painter....I don't like it. This is a running, driving, all original Model A that I Transported for a customer from South Carolina & am storing it here in Ohio in my paint room until he comes down from Northern Michigan. It drove in & out of the trailer with no issues, but put it on the dollies so I could slide it off to the side, because my paint room is also my wash bay for the trucks & trailers. drhach
How does one preserve that? Assuming you wanted to drive it.

My customer does plan on driving it just the way it is. Honestly it can't get any worse driving it, as long as you keep it out of the salt & it only gets wet once in a while. If someone wanted to keep the patina just like it s forever, you could scuff it lightly with a Scotchbrite, wipe it down with a surface cleaner & shoot a Matte or Flat clear urethane over it. That would keep it just like that. AURktman
A few bottles of CLR and it will roll back the decades without removing the paint.

I get 1 gallon jugs of it and fill up a tub and soak my parts for a while. It works on a ton of things. I also use it on cleaning the water tub in my CPAP when I use tap water instead of distilled water. It cleans lime / hard water gunk. You could probably even run a jug of it through your coolant system to clean out the rust and buildup. You can get it anywhere, I get the larger gallon jugs from Amazon though.
