zagato Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 Last year I had a dilemma with my 16 valve. The engine would start and run for about 25 minutes, then shut down. After about 30 minutes you could start it again. This went on for weeks and I replaced numerous parts including the Hall effect pick up. Nothing solved the issue. I finally pulled the distributor for examination and it had a crack. I chatted with Hemi and he concluded that when the engine warmed up the crack expanded causing the engine to shut down and contracted upon cooling. I am just passing this along in the event anyone else experiences similar problems.
HghCmdr Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 Hi Zagato, Just curious. Did you replace the distributor with an OEM or aftermarket part?
Garnet & Gold Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 Was the crack in the cap or some other location?
zagato Posted February 13, 2023 Author Posted February 13, 2023 There was a hairline crack in the distributor itself, not the plastic cap.
