Good Morning.   New Member here.   I am looking to get some true answers regarding my 1976 Electra.   I want to replace my sport mirrors with Chrome ones.   Are the chrome mirrors shaped the same from 1970 to 1984?  I do not want to go ahead and buy a mirror from a LeSabre 1984 if it won't fit properly on the side of my 1976 Electra.

I will start this by saying I have never owned an Electra of that vintage....... Believe Electras only came with chrome mirrors.

Sports mirrors (painted....never seen factory chrome sports mirrors) were standard or optional on all the other Buicks that year.

Here is a site that has copies of original showroom brochures..... look at different years to compare.

I happen to have a 1976 -1982 parts book and here is what it shows.   NOTE  your Electra is a "C",  LeSabre = "B"  and Riviera = "E"

Looks like I was wrong again.. This shows a "C" car could have painted sports mirrors.

The mirror heads (the actual mirror part) will likely be the same for around 1971 thru 84-85 full-size B&C Buicks and Oldsmobiles, and in some cases the A-body car. Some years the Buick will have a Tri-Shield cast into the mirror head.

The difference between years is going to be the mirror stand, specifically its base mounting angle. It changed to accommodate the angle of the door sheetmetal. The accessory mirror packages often came with several plastic base gaskets with different mounting angles so the mirror could be used on different years and different carlines.

Each to their own, but my money says not many 1976 Electras came with sport mirrors.

I have a 1976 Electra myself. Not sure if you have located a pair yet. The passenger side (RH) will be hard to get if it is remote controlled. The LH mirror should be relatively easier to find. There is a listing on eBay for one:

Your best bet for an alternative is try to locate mirrors listed for 1973 to 1978 C bodies. Lesabres (B body) and Rivieras E (body) for those years might use the same ones as well. They should fit with the correct mirror gasket which for the 1976 Electra is part #9874035.

You can always cross reference or search part numbers on gmpartswiki.com
