Andy J
Can MD-3 transmission fluid be used in the hydramatic? I'm ready to fire up my rebuilt '51 straight eight with rebuilt hydramatic transmission.A friend gave me a case of Chevron MD-3 fluid and I intend to use this if it safe for the hydramatic. What do you fellows think?
PONTIAC1953
I read that the GM license for the ATF name Dexron III expired on 01/01/2007, the new name of MD-3 replaces Dexron III.
Andy J
So It should be safe to use this MD-3 in my hydramatic? It was given to me to save a few bucks, but if it's questionable I'll get whatever I need.Thank you for your reply. OrtonvilleBob
Better than just safe, it's a good choice. Chevron is an excellent brand. As Pontiac1953 pointed out the Dexron III transmission fluid designation for our vintage hydramatic transmissions is obsolete. The new designation is MD-3. You got great deal.
