buickbrothers Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 My goal to complete the car this year was moving along fine and I just hit a snag. The oil pressure line crimped and broke while putting it through the fire wall. I was able to find new tubing and I'm attempting to use the original fittings and I was able to get them off the old line. However, since these are non-compression fittings, I haven't determined how to install them on the new copper tubing. I've looked for new ones but I haven't found the correct size that will work. Does anyone know how to install the original fitting on the new line or have a source for new fittings? Thanks...
60FlatTop Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 Is it this style fitting: https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/BK_7012154?cid=paidsearch_shopping_dcoe_google&campaign=GSC-Interior-Parts-Accessories&campaign_id=10947735031&adgroup_id=107081865586&adtype=pla&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIqq_x0f_W_AIVla7ICh0pGglKEAQYAyABEgL6qfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&
buickbrothers Posted January 20, 2023 Author Posted January 20, 2023 It's the style Bloo has sent. I need to stick with this style for the gauge connection. I check NAPA before I posted. I think I found one that will work and have ordered a set: 8236109 - Burnham 8236109 - Compression Fitting for Pilot Tubing (supplyhouse.com) Thanks for the reply!
Bloo Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 (edited) That's not the same thing but it might work(?). The one in the link is a type that breaks into 2 pieces if the picture is accurate. I don't know if it is interchangeable? Maybe? The fitting in my post is called a "threaded sleeve", and I have bought them from Blackhawk Supply. They compress at the tip when installed and become part of the tubing. https://blackhawksupply.com/collections/plumbing-brass-fittings-double-compression/description_nut Edited January 20, 2023 by Bloo (see edit history) 1
buickbrothers Posted January 20, 2023 Author Posted January 20, 2023 I'd prefer to use the one you indicated Bloo from Blackhawk Supply to mitigate any risk. I can't seem to find it in their online catalog. Do you have a part number or link to it?
Bloo Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 You can click on them from that page linked in my post above. I don't have an oil pressure tube in front of me to check, but I think it is the smallest one. 1/8" tubing (with 5/16-24 thread). I'd double check that if I were you. https://blackhawksupply.com/products/midland-16001-1-8-5-16-24-threaded-sleeve-nut-brass-fittings-double-compression-nut
buickbrothers Posted January 20, 2023 Author Posted January 20, 2023 Yes, that is correct and the link is good. $1.72 for the two parts and $10 shipping - shipping is nuts but you have to get the parts. Thank you so much for the help! 2
