Ed Davidson
I need to find some door hinge screws for a 1935 Buick sedan. Had to drill out the originals. A local supply house has the right 5/16 24 X 3/4" screws, but the heads are too wide for the countersink, and not oval.
TerryB
Seems the world goes to McMaster-Carr for this kind of stuff. Might want to check them out.
ply33
It has been a few years, but I found some oval head machine screws with slotted heads at a marine supply company. They mostly carried brass and stainless but for my needs stainless was fine.

Consider chucking them in a lathe and turning them to fit. If they are too wide you can take some away.
46 woodie
Ed, Before he passed away, Ed Clarke sold specialized screws for Woodie Station Wagons and two items that he had in his inventory were 5/16"-24 special flat head screws but not in oval head. He sold them in 7/8" and 3" long and fit 1941-1948 Station Wagon door hinges. I have been trying to find out who purchased Ed's inventory since he died, as I purchased dozens of "anti rattle balls" from him when I was reproducing tailgate irons. So if you have the time to do some research to try to find Ed's inventory your'e in luck. If you are interested I can give you Ed's telephone number and see what transpires but I just do not have the heart to talk to his wife again. Bhigdog
If the flat head is too wide chances are there is enough meat to turn it into an oval head. Turn the head to diameter then turn the head to oval form. Might need to deepen the slot a bit, no biggie......bob

raydurr
Take a look at these. They are also a slotted head, not a modern philips head. https://www.affordablestreetrods.com/5-16-24-x-3-4-slotted-oval-head-machine-screws-pan.html
