The Dynaflash Kid Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 Hello All, I have a friend who has recently acquired a 1927 Chandler Standard 6 that has sat for at least 40 years in a garage. Engine is not building oil pressure when cranking and oil pump not pumping any oil. This has stalled any effort to start this motor, even with the oil pumped primed from upstream of the pump. Next steps would be to drop pan and/or remove pump body and inspect. Is there a specific way these oil pumps have to be primed to function properly? This engine looks like it had been rebuilt recently to when it was parked. anyone have shop manuals or owners manuals that could provide information on this vehicle? Thanks, Alex
JFranklin Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 The first step should have been to drop the pan. Once open things should become apparent. Maybe a faulty pump is why it was parked all those years.
29 Chandler Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 These pumps are made of pot metal inspect it carefully before proceeding. If your 1927 is also like my 1929 all of the moving parts will be stamped with the engine number
