BlueDevil Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 I just got a car that was stopped mid restoration and am trying to sort thru and assemble the top metal. All the top pieces have been plated but are separate. Does any one have photos or description on how things go together? I have the wood for patterns. Thanks in advance.

lozrocks Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 I didn't think the 72 had sheet metal on top. Isn't it vinyl over wood?
Narve N Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 It can be a open top car with chromed metal parts for the bows.
BlueDevil Posted January 17, 2023 Author Posted January 17, 2023 Sorry, it is a roadster. Here are the pieces. The top 2 at the right are different so I am wondering if I am missing 2 pcs?
leomara Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 This is what the top irons for your car look like when assembled. Each side has 6 pieces. This is the passenger side. The prop nut and bolt is not in the photo. I do not recognize the 2 L shaped pieces on the left side of your photo. Perhaps someone can identify them.
BlueDevil Posted January 17, 2023 Author Posted January 17, 2023 Great help Leo. Thanks. So it looks like I am missing 1 each of the 2 parts on the right. Anybody got any?
leomara Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 (edited) Yes that appears to be correct. I doubt you will find any spares however be thankful you have the two pieces as a pattern to duplicate. I recommend you contact ThisOleCoupe@yahoo.com 717-808-6612, the guy does great metal work and has duplicated some parts for me. Remember there is a driver side and passenger side to each set of top bows. Edited January 17, 2023 by leomara (see edit history)
BlueDevil Posted January 17, 2023 Author Posted January 17, 2023 To Jay's point I found them in with the windshield posts.
BlueDevil Posted January 17, 2023 Author Posted January 17, 2023 Leo, are there any washers between the parts that rotate? Thanks in advance.
leomara Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 No, it appears to be round headed rivets on each side with no washers.
pre1939chrysler Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 Guys would do anything to have those top parts. You would be a savior if you would duplicate them. You could easily cover your costs if you did.
leomara Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 Hey pre1939chrysle, can you tell us what those two L shaped pieces are at the left of BlueDevil's photo?
BlueDevil Posted January 19, 2023 Author Posted January 19, 2023 My guess is they are the hinges for the panel in front of the rumble seat
leomara Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 No BlueDevil, those hinges are straight and look like this:
leomara Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 Going back to BlueDevil's photo. Can anyone identify these two plated pieces in this photo? I'm quite sure they have nothing to do with the top irons.
