EmTee Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 There's a lot of discussion on this subject over in the Reatta forum: https://forums.aaca.org/topic/380092-1989-buick-reatta-rear-shocks/#comment-2382399
Autry Posted January 17, 2023 Author Posted January 17, 2023 So which ones fit 1991 Buick Riviera I'm need them for my car
RivNut Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 The Reatta and the Riviera share the same chassis. A good shock for the Reatta will be good for the Riviera.
RivNut Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 Check out the website you were given. Make those choices based on your needs. Only you know the ride you want and the $ you want to spend.
EmTee Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 The issue is it seems nobody is making them currently. There is a lot of discussion about possible workarounds, such as cutting the strut open, replacing the cartridge and then welding it back together. Whatever you do, don't throw your old ones away -- yet... 1
dship Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 Go to the Reatta Owners Forum at Options for replacing rear struts needed. - Reatta Owners Journal Forum - Reatta Owners Journal Forums to read all the info related the rear strut issues with the Reatta all-years and Riviera '86-'93.
Barney Eaton Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 The Riviera, Toronado, Eldorado and Seville all used the same rear shock/strut....they all had self leveling. The Reatta used the same shock/strut without the self leveling air fitting. I am doing some research that seems to indicate that the factory struts can be modified with new insert shocks. I don't think this will allow for the self leveling feature. I will post any progress I make. 1
