28 Chrysler Posted January 12, 2023 Posted January 12, 2023 I am thinking this is a Buick steering wheel around 1924. 18" with a 4 1/2 dish and takes a 1" shaft.
Oregon Desert model 45 Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 It sure looks like Buick. 1" bore matches Master series Buick steering shaft. These wheels with wood spokes are often seen on Canadian made Mclaughlin Buicks. The parts book lists usage on 1924 Models 51, 54, & 55, and different part number for 1925 Models 51, 54, & 55. I don't know what was changed between 1924 and 1925, so can't identify exactly which year this is. Is the boss outer diameter 4-1/2" indicated in the photo mark up below ? The plain wheel with alum spokes is 3-1/8" at the boss diameter. This was the expensive steering wheel with list price of $14.50 for a replacement vs $9.00 for the plain wheel.
dibarlaw Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 Thanks Kevin. I did not have the dimensions at hand. I do have a sectional drawing I made to be able to verify the cup/hub dimensions. I will have to dig that out.
28 Chrysler Posted January 13, 2023 Author Posted January 13, 2023 I really need to get a camera that the auto focus works. It is the 3 1/8" wheel. Thanks for all the info.
1956cody Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 This might work on my 22 6-55, are you selling it?
Oregon Desert model 45 Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 A 1924/1925 wheel meant for a 1" steering shaft is not going to fit very well on 1922/1923 steering shaft which is 1-1/8" diameter.
1956cody Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 I was unaware of that. Thank you for the information.
