tcslr
Cadmium coating on fasteners and parts ---- there are two 'colors' a yellowish and a silverish. How do you determine which is correct? especially in judging? TIA, Tom
61polara
To give a very basic answer, you are going to have to do some investigation. Somewhere on each of the original fasteners and parts there should be at least a small part of the original plating visible. As for AACA judging, it is the owner's responsibility to provide documentation for an area questioned by the judges. For many popular cars, marque clubs have published authentication manuals which have become their standard for judging.
Restorer32
I have often wondered the same. When did "yellow cad" come into use? I have seen 1930's cars with yellow cad plated engine parts, especially carbs, and it does not look correct to me.
