Axial_Flow
This thought crossed my head while searching for an air cleaner for my ‘30 Chevrolet coupe. 1932 was the first year for Chevrolet (Carter W1). But I believe the first GM car equipped with a down draft carburetor was the 1930 Oakland V8 (Marvel). Can anyone confirm or deny my suspicions? Kind regards,
carbking
I am unaware of a GM with downdraft earlier than 1930. It was not the first downdraft. Jon
60FlatTop
I pulled an old Dykes manual off the shelf to check on this. I got a little chuckle from the statement that the Stromberg Model "D" downdraft was aided by the force of gravity instead of suction. Oh, really. Jon, what do you think of that? Kind regards, 1930 Oakland V-8 does have a Marvel downdraft carburetor. Edited January 7, 2023 by Pfeil (see edit history)
John348
I thought the 1917 Chevrolet V-8's had downdraft duel carbs? Edited January 7, 2023 by John348 (see edit history)
