TerryB Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 Framed this ad today from April 1920 for the Goodell-Pratt auto tool set No.699. Looks like the set should have plenty of tools to handle roadside repairs. A nice reminder of the tools it took to keep a car running back in the day. 6
Walt G Posted December 31, 2022 Posted December 31, 2022 $40.00 in 1920 was a lot of money - could have bought a used car for that kind of cash 2
intimeold Posted December 31, 2022 Posted December 31, 2022 I would pay $40 today for the set! I know, dream on 1 2
paulrhd29nz Posted December 31, 2022 Posted December 31, 2022 I see three bearing scrapers in the kit. that would be fun on the side of the road in 1920.

The picture looks to be of a Cadillac which already came with a tool kit anyway… so they would need to be specialised I guess
28 Chrysler Posted December 31, 2022 Posted December 31, 2022 A kit for the driver, winter maintenance along with road side repairs. The car owner in the 1920s that would buy a $40 tool kit would have his "man" use it. Packard used the term "Man" in the owners manual. 1
SC38dls Posted December 31, 2022 Posted December 31, 2022 My two louder brothers and my self bought a 49 Plymouth convertible six cylinder for $49 in 1960. It only had 4 piston but still ran for about six months. Didn’t have any tools in it. dave s
