IGH-1029 was actually not used on Cord.

There are four identical looking but different caps:

IGH-1029

IGH-1045

IGH-1045A

IGH-1063

The above caps are physically identical but they have different terminal numbers.

IGH-1029 and IGH-1045 were used on straight eight engines. The terminals are numbered 1 to 8.  One cap for firing order cw and the other one for ccw.

IGH-1045A and IGH-1063 were used on V8 engines. The terminals are numbered 1L to 4L and 1R to 4R (for left and right cylinder bank).

IGH-1045A and IGH-1063 were exclusively used on Cords, IGH-1045A being the cap used on the 1937 Cord 812-V8 Supercharge only.

Passenger car applications:

IGH-1029

1931-33 Nash

1937 Packard

IGH-1045

1934-36 Auburn

1932-34 Checker Cab

1932-36 & 38 Hupmobile

IGH-1045A

1937 Cord Supercharge

IGH-1063

1936-37 Cord

To answer your question; you can use an IGH-1029 on a 1936-37 Cord but there was a cap exclusively made for 1936-37 Cords.

I just noticed that there is a total of five different caps.

There is also an IGH-1029B cap, which was used on 1948-49 Chrysler Marine Royal engines M18 and M28 with distributor IGP-4507-1M.

All five caps used the same top cover IGH-30.
