The turn signal flasher is actually on a pigtail coming off the harness from the fuse box. The pigtail has a dark blue and a purple wire. If there is a flasher on the fuse box, it is for the hazard flashers, not the turn signals.

This has fooled MANY a person looking for a bad turn signal flasher, usually with the statement "but I changed the flasher and the turn signals still do not work!".👍

For a long time I wondered WHY GM did it this way, then it occurred to me that by mounting the turn signal flasher to the backside of the metal under the dashboard, that would amplify the clicking noise of the mechanical flasher when the turn signal was in use.
