Old buicks 2
How do you get the rear hubs off an 18 axle? Is the axle tapered and how are the brake drums supported to the hubs. A detailed drawing, parts book or some experience is definitely need and appreciated. Thanks a BUNCH in advance

hddennis
You need to find out what diameter and thread per inch the hubcap is and then get a wood wheel hub puller that matches that. Howard Dennis
wmsue
My chart says that a 1917 Maxwell hub is 2 3/8" x 24 tpi. No listing for an 18 on my chart. Good Luck, Bill

Good Luck, Bill You just reminded me I have a parts list for 1914-1921. I just ran through it quickly and couldn't find a specific by year listing for hubcaps. I did run across a hub puller listing that shows 2 3/4 x 16 TPI . I 've fooled with Maxwell's long enough to tell you to check your hubs as you never know when Maxwell may have changed suppliers or what a previous owner may have changed.
