Bill Accord
Is a 6 volt fuel pump different if it is Positive or Negative Ground?
PFitz
Some are and some are not. Depends on type and maker. The directions with the pump should say. If you don't have the original directions, temporarily hook it up and if no fuel comes through, try reversing the wires and see if that works. But why not use the original pump that was designed to work with the carb ? Only a few electric pumps are low enough pressure to match the 2-4 psi fuel pressure of the original Franklin mechanical pumps used on 29 and later. And they are getting tough to find. If you use a higher-pressure pump, you'll need to also install an inline pressure regulator after the pump, or you are asking for carb problems. And no electric pumps match the extremely low 1/2 PSI of a vacuum tank, which should never have an electric feeding into it,... unless wanting to risk an engine fire.
